A US airline attendant claims that she has been fired after her former employer Delta Airlines took a dim view of her semi-fictional online blog.
Ellen Simonetti jumped to prominence as the self-proclaimed Queen of the Sky after her anonymous online travelogue attracted the wrath of airline executives.
According to Simonetti, although her accounts were anonymous the company objected to her online diary, and terminated her employment on 1 November 2004.
A statement on her website, the name of which has been changed from 'Diary of a flight attendant' to 'Diary of a fired flight attendant', reads: "Yes, you read correctly ... Queen of the Sky was fired yesterday (actually effective Monday). Big blunder on Delta's part, if you ask me."
The site added: "Simonetti Queen of the Sky is going to send her resumé to Richard Branson this week."
When vnunet.com called Virgin Atlantic, a spokeswoman refused to comment on whether Simonetti's CV had been received. "We treat each application we receive carefully and are not able to comment on individual applications," she said.
Simonetti went on to promise that "a big lawsuit is coming for Delta Air Lines".
